Like a Bird Wanders

A dark secret was hidden in their upstanding family...

Grace Rose McFarlane, the middle McLeod sister, is dying.  Her very last act is to leave a cryptic handwritten warning for her great-granddaughter, who will be arriving soon for Christmas break: Julia, the lion will destroy you. But what does the note mean? Through a stack of yellowing letters and journals in her grandmother’s attic, Julia pieces together a shocking tale of rebellion and betrayal… and is determined to track down the truth. The tangled web she finds will forever alter her perspective on her family… and may save her from making a heartbreaking mistake of her own.

Sharon Bernash Smith

Married and raising two sons in rural Washington state, Sharon Bernash Smith wore many hats, including preschool teacher, midwife’s assistant in home birth deliveries, and a Pregnancy Resource Center volunteer. Now, as an author/speaker, Sharon desires to touch lives for Christ through the written word and her own life experiences. “Reality Fiction™ is my commitment to direct my writing toward the human struggles we all face,” Sharon says. “Because there are no ‘pat’ answers in life, you won’t find them in my books. However, God is faithful, and all my works will reflect Him as just.”

Sharon’s Christmas story, “What Do You Say to a King?” was first published by Focus on the Family. She’s also been published through AMG's Prayers for Toubled Times and is currently an editor for a Pregnancy Resource Center newsletter. She serves in women's ministry as a Bible study leader, and contributes to daily devotions and children's curriculum at her church in Washington. Sharon loves to watercolor and enjoys "landsailing" in the Columbia River Gorge near her home. Spending time with friends and family, especially her two granddaughters, fills her life with joy.
