Paul Wallis

The New Monastic

I, Ben Anthony, had the enviable privilege of lost people seeking me out, and here I was, turning them down because I was too busy being a good Christian.

    My soul-wrenching questions were to send me on a journey of discovery - a global trek that would take me well away from the comfort of familiar patterns and habits and into a form of church I had scarcely heard of…
    It’s easy to dream. It’s motivating to contemplate new avenues for faith and obedience to God. But it’s the turning that’s the hardest part.

"Seductive in the way it draws us gently into some of time’s deepest currents. A fine read."

Paul Wallis

    Paul Wallis is the author of five previous books: Be Thou My Breastplate: 40 days of giving your life to God the Celtic way (Continuum/Paulist Press);
God’s Radicals (OIKOS Australia); My Dinner with Anton (Wild Goose/Iona UK); Men Behaving Boldly (SPCK); and Rough Ways in Prayer: How can I pray when I feel spiritually dead? (SPCK).
    Paul’s writing on masculine spirituality has been published in journals ranging from the Christian magazine Woman Alive to the secular lads’ magazine Maxim. His interviews and devotional programs have been broadcast on three continents.
    Paul has swum in piranha-infested waters in South America, horse-trekked in the rugged foothills of the Himalayas, and survived a charge by a white rhino in Southern Africa. He now heads up Jesus Generation—an international disciple-making network of Christian workers, groups, and group-houses following a shared rule of life. He divides his time between personal mentoring of emerging young leaders; serving with OIKOS Australia to strengthen the work of small, grassroots churches; lecturing at Unity College Australia; serving as a keynote speaker for international conferences; and homemaking for his family. Paul is deliriously married to his wife, Ruth.
