Janice Cantore
The Kevlar Heart
Can a woman who doesn't believe in God help a shattered man rediscover his faith?
Two cops, Brinna Caruso and Jack O’Reilly, are unwillingly thrown together at the same time a monster preying on children makes his presence known in their city.
Brinna is a K-9 officer who specializes in finding lost children. She herself is a survivor -- abducted at six, and rescued two days later. She grew up with a passion to help other missing children.
Once, Jack was a model officer. But a personal tragedy has devastated him -- he's struggling to recover a year after his wife was killed by a drunk driver.
When Brinna and Jack are thrown together as partners, both would rather be anywhere than with each other. But when a monster begins to prey on innocent children, both learn that each might just learn from the other as they race to stop this monstrous predator.

JANICE CANTORE worked several different assignments as a police officer for the City of Long Beach for sixteen years before retiring early with a back injury.
Over the years she’d dabbled in writing short articles on faith at work -- one appeared in Today’s Christian Woman and another in the newspaper Cop and Christ. The early retirement gave her the time to sit down and write a novel.
“The idea and inspiration for The Kevlar Heart bubbled up from a series of articles I read concerning recent real-life missing children cases,” Janice says. “I also have an uncle who disappeared under mysterious circumstances years ago. Though he resurfaced alive and well, I know first-hand what effect a missing loved one can have on a family.”
Janice currently resides in Southern California with her two dogs and pursues a broad variety of interests, including hiking in the San Bernardino Mountains, kayaking, and cross stitching.
