Janice Cantore

Janice Cantore worked several different assignments as a police officer for the City of Long Beach for sixteen years before retiring early with a back injury. Over the years she’d dabbled in writing short articles on faith at work; one appeared in Today’s Christian Woman and another in the newspaper Cop and Christ. The early retirement gave her the time to sit down and write a novel. “The idea and inspiration for the Brinna Caruso novels, especially the first one, The Kevlar Heart, bubbled up from a series of articles I read concerning recent real-life missing children cases,” Janice says. “I also have an uncle who disappeared under mysterious circumstances years ago. Though he resurfaced alive and well, I know firsthand what effect a missing loved one can have on a family.” Janice currently resides in Southern California with her two dogs and pursues a broad variety of interests, including hiking in the San Bernardino Mountains, kayaking, and cross stitching.
