 Barbara Scott

Barbara Scott and her husband, Gary, reside in Redmond, Washington.  Married for 36 years, they have two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.  In her first book, From Rubble to Restoration, Barbara tells the dramatic story of their family's terrible undoing and divinely orchestrated reconstruction.
For the past eight years, the Scotts have served with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) at their headquarters and flagship campus at the University of the Nations (UofN) in Kona, Hawaii.  They have traveled extensively in the Philippines, Korea, and Thailand, speaking in churches, YWAM bases, and other ministries.  While in Kona, Barbara wrote many articles for YWAM's web site and UofN's Transformations magazine.
Her short story, "She Pierced My Heart," is featured in Dr. Gary Chapman's book: Love is a Verb: Stories of What Happens When Love Comes Alive (Bethany, 2009). Barbara's passion is to inspire others through her writing to find God and experience His ability to work all things together for good.

Bernice was only six the night she and her brother were brought to the State School for Dependent Children.  They had been taken away from their mother before and placed in foster homes, but somehow this felt different.  Little did Bernice know that her mother had signed away custody of her, and she wouldn't leave that orphanage for two years.
People weren't adopting children in 1929, but that year eight-year-old Bernice was adopted into one of the finest homes in rural Bloomington, Minnesota.  She was told she's lucky to be adopted, while others will live out their childhoods in the orphanage.  But she's worried.  What will her new life be like?  Will she ever see her brother again?  And do these people really want her?
